Meet Reality Check, a one-of-a-kind cropped jacket handmade from a rescued black-and-white checkerboard blanket.

What started as something meant for the couch has been completely reconstructed into a plush statement jacket featuring a warped checkerboard print, oversized hood, front pockets, cropped silhouette, and an extra-large zipper that has absolutely no interest in being subtle.

Soft enough to feel like you're still wrapped in a blanket.

Weird enough that nobody needs to know you basically are.

THE MUTATION

A rescued checkerboard blanket was cut apart and reconstructed by hand into a completely new cropped hooded jacket, finished with pockets and an intentionally oversized zipper.

This isn't an existing jacket with something sewn onto it.

The blanket became the jacket.

Which feels like an important distinction.

Because of the plush fabric and oversized hardware, I recommend hand washing or machine washing cold on a gentle cycle, then laying flat or hanging to dry.

Avoid high heat.
