THE ALIEN FILES

CLASSIFIED: The story behind The Modern Alien

The Modern Alien is a one-of-a-kind clothing brand creating bold, expressive statement pieces for people who refuse to blend in.

Every piece is handmade in Holbrook, Arizona using rescued and reworked materials—giving new life to what already exists and turning it into something completely original.

No duplicates. No restocks. No copies.

What we believe

We don’t believe in fast fashion.

We believe in self-expression.

We believe your clothes should feel like you—not like everyone else.

In a world where everything is mass-produced, we create pieces that are intentionally different, imperfect, and full of character.

How it's made

Each piece starts with sourced materials—thrifted fabrics, vintage textiles, and forgotten garments.

From there, everything is cut, reworked, and rebuilt by hand into something entirely new.

Nothing is duplicated.
Nothing is mass produced.
Every piece exists as a one-of-one creation.

Why it matters

This isn’t just about clothing.

It’s about wearing something that actually feels like you.

It’s about choosing individuality over trends.
Expression over perfection.
Creativity over conformity.

Because you weren’t made to blend in—and your clothes shouldn’t be either.

FILE 001: THE WHITE CLAW EXPERIMENT

BRAND COLLABORATION: WHITE CLAW

Apparently regular fabric wasn't enough.

The Modern Alien collaborated with White Claw to turn branded koozies into completely unexpected wearable pieces — including a handmade winter jacket and matching bucket hat.

And because making clothes out of koozies wasn't unhinged enough, some of the koozies were kept fully functional. Because obviously your jacket should be able to hold your drink too.

The project took something normally used as promotional material and transformed it into one-of-a-kind wearable art — combining upcycled fashion, unconventional materials, functionality, and the slightly questionable ideas that make The Modern Alien… The Modern Alien.

STATUS: Successfully abducted promotional materials and returned them as fashion. 👽

FILE 002 — THE L.A. SIGHTING

THE MODERN ALIEN LANDS AT LA FASHION WEEK

Turns out the desert couldn't contain us forever. 👽

The Modern Alien made its way from Arizona to Los Angeles Fashion Week, bringing our one-of-a-kind handmade designs into one of the country's most recognizable fashion scenes.

What started with thrifted fabrics, forgotten textiles, weird ideas, and a sewing machine became something worthy of a fashion week runway.

No mass production. No playing it safe. Just handmade, one-of-one fashion showing up exactly where it wasn't expected.

For The Modern Alien, LA Fashion Week was more than a runway moment. It was proof that clothing made differently — sustainably, creatively, and a little strangely — deserves to take up space in the fashion industry.

FILE 003 — THE EAST COAST INVASION

THE MODERN ALIEN TAKES NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

Next stop: New York. 👽🗽

The Modern Alien brought its one-of-a-kind handmade fashion to New York Fashion Week, taking our weird little corner of the Arizona desert all the way to one of the biggest fashion destinations in the world.

Pieces created from unexpected materials, thrifted textiles, vintage finds, and a whole lot of “wait… what if I did THIS?” officially made their way to New York.

For a small independent fashion brand built around doing things differently, this was a pretty damn big deal.

The Modern Alien was never created to fit neatly into the fashion industry. It was created for the people who want to wear something nobody else has — and showing at New York Fashion Week proved you don't have to make yourself less weird to make yourself bigger.

From handmade in Arizona to the New York runway.

FILE 004 — THE SHEIN X EXPERIMENT

THE MODERN ALIEN x SHEIN X

Before The Modern Alien fully evolved into the funky western creature it is today, we had another pretty major encounter: designing for SHEIN X. 👽

The opportunity put The Modern Alien's designs in front of a much larger fashion audience while giving us a chance to bring our own creative perspective and sustainability-focused ideas into the program.

It was another chapter in figuring out exactly what The Modern Alien was meant to be — experimental, unconventional, constantly evolving, and definitely not interested in making the same clothes as everybody else.

From designing for SHEIN X to eventually building a brand centered around handmade, upcycled, one-of-a-kind clothing, every weird little stop along the way helped create the alien you see today.

STATUS: Experiment completed. Mutation successful.

FILE 005 — WE INTERRUPT THIS BROADCAST

THE MODERN ALIEN ON AZ DAILY MIX

The aliens made it onto live television. Apparently nobody stopped them. 📺👽

The Modern Alien was featured live on AZ Daily Mix, bringing our one-of-a-kind fashion and unconventional approach to design from the sewing machine to the TV screen.

Getting to share The Modern Alien with a television audience was another surreal milestone for a brand built on making the weird ideas instead of talking ourselves out of them.

Turns out taking forgotten materials, breaking a few fashion rules, and making clothes nobody else has can get you places.

Sometimes even live TV.

FILE 006 — THE INTERVIEW WAS COMPROMISED

THE MODERN ALIEN x THAT'S NOT RUBBISH PODCAST

The Modern Alien sat down with That's Not Rubbish Podcast to talk fashion, creativity, sustainability, and turning what others might consider “rubbish” into something worth wearing.

Everything was going great.

And then the cat got involved.

Mid-interview, my cat decided the backdrop had been standing for quite long enough and proceeded to take the entire thing down.

On camera.

During the interview.

Professional? Questionable.

Memorable? Absolutely.

Luckily, that's kind of the whole spirit of The Modern Alien anyway — make something cool, embrace a little chaos, and keep going when things don't exactly follow the plan.

STATUS: Interview completed. Backdrop did not survive.

CAUSE OF INCIDENT: Cat.

FILE 007 — ANOTHER TRANSMISSION DETECTED

THE MODERN ALIEN x GEM SEARCH

Another transmission picked up. 👽🎙️

The Modern Alien was interviewed by Gem Search, giving me another opportunity to talk about the brand, my creative process, and the wonderfully weird world behind making one-of-a-kind fashion.

Every interview has been another chance to tell the story behind the clothes — because The Modern Alien has never just been about making something to wear. It's about experimenting, creating with what already exists, ignoring the fashion rulebook, and making the idea that's stuck in my head actually exist.

STATUS: Alien located and questioned.
